Skills for Life

17th Wakefield Scout Group is open to all, young and old, whatever gender and faith. We aim to be just like a family, supportive of each other.

Welcome to 17th Wakefield (Outwood Church)

We have grown over the last 10 years form a small group with about 20 young members across beavers and cubs, to one of the largest groups in Wakefield district, with over 100 young members aged from 6 to 18.

We offer a large range of activities, giving all the chance to learn skills for life and go on to complete the sectional top awards, and Duke of Edinburgh awards, earning many badges along the way. Camping, hiking, international adventures, team challenges and lots more. We take a full part in district and county activities.

The leadership team includes not only adult leaders but a large number of great young leaders, many of who jointed has beaver scouts, learning leadership skills, wanting to give back, having enjoyed there time as beavers, cubs and scouts, before many go on to university and continue scouting elsewhere with the help of the independence they learnt from us.
